The B-17 Flight Jacket

The B-17 Historical Society type L-2 flight jacket is made of a heavy-duty Military sage nylon flight satin shell (2 1/2 times stronger than regular flight satin) with a matching polyester twill lining. Heavy duty matching knit collar, cuffs and bottom band. Snap pockets. Zippered pocket on left sleeve. Brass zipper with leather pull tab. Snap-down epaulets and oxygen mask clip piece. This Mil-spec jacket is made in America by I. Spiewak & Sons, one of America's oldest continuously operating military suppliers. During World War II, Spiewak supplied the U.S. Army Air Corps with up to 3,600 B-17 leather flight suits each week. Jackets come with a full 57,000 stitch embroidery of EAA’s B-17 on the back, the Aluminum Overcast patch on the right chest, Eighth Air Force patch on left shoulder and green Velcro patch on left chest for leather name tag.
The leather name tag must be ordered by the member separately. The form for the name tag will be included with the jacket. As a special privilege, B-17 flight jackets are available only to flight experience participants.
