Support the B-17

FACT: Essential wing maintenance scheduled for 2005 will cost in excess of $100,000.
The challenge involved in maintaining a World War II bomber in flying condition increases each year. Now more than ever, corporate and personal contributions count towards our goal of keeping Aluminum Overcast flying as long as possible, as a powerful flying tribute to those who gave so much to the cause of freedom.
Insurance costs have risen greatly in recent years (particularly since September 11th) and the cost of an engine overhaul has now topped $40,000 – and bear in mind that we overhaul between one and two engines per year! Annually, our EAA staff devote between 4,000 and 5,000 maintenance hours to the airplane, supported by an estimated 25,000 volunteer hours in various roles.
The operation of the B-17 is not supported by EAA Membership dues, nor are we sustained by regular grants from city, county, state or federal sources. Although some of our costs are covered by flights, other assistance is also required on an annual basis to help defray operational expenses and maintenance costs.
Aluminum Overcast is operated as part of a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. You can help us meet our goal to keep Aluminum Overcast flying for years to come…from the smallest donations to the biggest, every little bit counts.
Credit card donations may be made with our online Giving Form, or donations may be made with cash, check or money order by mailing donation to EAA B-17 Program, P.O. Box 3086, Oshkosh, WI, 54903-3086 payable to EAA B-17 Program. Please also feel free to call 800.236.1025 for more information.
With your help, we can keep the Aluminum Overcast flying high! Thank you.
